SP.05.06 Revision to the Bylaws, Part E.2 (c) - Faculty Advisory Committee, Nomination Deadline

BACKGROUND

The University Statutes, Article II, Section 4. (Faculty Advisory Committee), state, in part, “The deadline for filing [nominations for the Faculty Advisory Committee] shall be set by each campus senate.” To obviate the need for the Senate Executive Committee to submit a deadline to the Senate each year, USSP proposes codifying in the Senate Bylaws the standing practice whereby the Senate Clerk consults with the Faculty Advisory Committee in determining this deadline. The Senate Clerk and the Faculty Advisory Committee have been consulted and they support this revision to the Bylaws.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The Senate Committee on University Statutes and Senate Procedures recommends approval of the following revisions to the Bylaws. Text to be deleted is indicated in [square brackets] and text to be added is underscored.

2. Faculty Advisory Committee

(c) Nominations

The deadline for filing nominations shall be determined by the Clerk of the Senate in consultation with the Faculty Advisory Committee.
